The Asset Management Engineer develops and sustains asset management strategies associated with the operation and maintenance of OPPD's substation, transmission, and distribution assets and related systems while optimizing reliability and cost. This includes best practice recommendations, business justifications, business need to technical requirements translation, asset performance assessments, predictive analytics concepts, and preventive intervention recommendations.

Asset Program development and management

Assist in the preparation and maintenance of strategic asset management plans (SAMPS & AMPS) in accordance with ISO 55000, including lists and hierarchies, identifying asset inventory and condition, calculation of business risk evaluations, determining asset net present value and life cycle costs, developing alternatives for cost-effective operations and maintenance and long-term investment.

Contribute to control strategies to reduce risk and improve asset utilization, determine predictive strategies, perform root cause failure analysis to reduce down time and increase efficiency.

Compare current system performance against other similar industry benchmarks to establish best practices and improve system processes.

Prepare technical direction and system performance criteria for maintenance engineering, procurement, construction, contract administration, construction management, and records management of energy delivery infrastructure assets (e.g., substation, transmission, distribution, and network).

Prepare and maintain detailed maintenance program documents for assigned energy delivery systems and component classes.

Maintain effective relationships with corporate personnel, consultants, vendors, and contractors to ensure predictable project outcomes and system performance.

Maintain, expand and oversee an effective condition based asset management program

Responsible for monitoring and communicating Asset Performance through reporting including life cycle analysis, asset performance analysis for capital and O&M funding and other analysis required for engineering, operations and maintenance.

Manage procurement and professional or service contracts as necessary to advance the asset management programs and inspections.

Responsible for coordinating with outside consultants related to asset management.

Budgeting and Planning

Work and collaborate with Engineering, Finance, Operations, Customer Service and other Departments to leverage asset management data for developing replacement programs, project planning, and financial forecasting for short, intermediate and long term forecasts.

Support condition assessment of existing assets and improve and enhance capital improvement planning and budgeting.

Performance Improvement, Analytics, and Technology

Participate in industry conferences and seminars to stay engaged in industry best practices for assigned scope of assets and determine methods and techniques for improving results.

Establish and promote a culture of continuous improvement, building an effective asset risk mitigation program to improve asset reliability with reduced risk at optimized spending and capital investments.

Support and investigate new inspection and performance monitoring technology and methods to optimize data collection and analysis of Energy Delivery assets

Contribute to the development of innovations such as unmanned aircraft/drones to collect and analyze visual, infrared, and orthographic information.

Identify, evaluate, and maintain inspection software applications.

Continuously improve programs for maintenance and remediation of transmission, network, substation, and distribution physical infrastructure.

Support managers across the organization with development, approval, and revision of asset management plans, equipment lifecycle evaluations, condition inspections, technical and economic calculations, remediation contract specifications, as assigned.

Analysis of equipment degradation mechanisms, condition assessments, repair/replace/mitigate options, and remediation contracting involving, but not limited to, outdoor/underground corrosion, steel equipment coatings, underground structures/equipment.

Support development and maintenance of optimal energy delivery physical infrastructure spare parts identification and inventory levels to mitigate reliability and economic risk.

Rapid response is expected to support Senior Management inquiries with accurate credible and timely information for topics such as, but not limited to, Utility Operations asset management program projections, program philosophies, mitigation of asset walls, and emergent remediation events.

Identify and address opportunities for improvement and instances of non-compliance with defined standards and best practices.

Prepare technical analysis and audience-appropriate documents for complex engineering assignments.

Identify industry problems and offer technical solutions without direction. Implement proactive approach toward identifying and solving problems.

Serve on project teams to guide reliability and asset management and maintenance related outcomes.

Provide strategic input to engineering design groups to optimize asset management and lifecycle cost concepts incorporating lifecycle costing and analysis.

Qualifications

Required:

ABET accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a Professional Engineer (PE) certificate.

Two (2) years of applicable utility technical maintenance programs and field oversight experience. Special projects and committees including technical skills may be considered for experience durations. Master's degree may be considered for up to two years of experience.

Replace-in-kind assessment capability for utility energy delivery equipment and system condition evaluations.

Knowledge and understanding of power delivery infrastructure (underground and overhead transmission, overhead and underground distribution, substation, network) design, operational criticality, and condition remediation methods.

Strong MS Office Professional Skills (Word, Power Point, Outlook and Excel)

A valid driver's license is required.

Desired:

NACE CIP Level 1 Certification (five years of directly applicable experience in corrosion protection technology, outdoor and underground structure corrosion evaluation, coating preparation and application, and coating contract specification may be considered equivalent)

Thermography Leve 1 Certified

FAA Part 107 Certification for Remote Pilot of unmanned aircraft or within six months from hire date.

Master's degree in Engineering, or MBA with relevant asset management/lifecycle experience or Masters, minor, or certificate program level education in data analytics, mathematical modeling, or management information systems.

Relevant maintenance program experience.

Experience consolidating and interpreting multiple data sources to determine an optimized solution.

Working knowledge of ISO 55000

Demonstrated capabilities of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations, and presenting recommendations.

Strong working knowledge of OPPD work processes and computer systems

Thorough knowledge of OPPD¿s transmission, distribution, and substation systems.

Demonstrated knowledge and application of analytics software such as Power BI, Python, Tableau, R, Machine Learning

Familiarity and experience with Asset Suite, Cognos, PeopleSoft, and SharePoint.
