Job Title: Construction AccountantJob DescriptionOur Client is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join our accounting team. The Construction Accountant will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient management of financial resources through accurate cost analysis and reporting. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to our mission of providing affordable housing solutions to those in need. This position reports to the Controller.Responsibilities: Conduct thorough analysis of project costs, including materials, labor, and overhead expenses, to ensure accuracy and cost-effectiveness. Assist in the development and monitoring of project budgets, providing insights and recommendations to ensure projects remain on track financially. Identify and investigate variances between budgeted and actual costs, collaborating with project managers and other stakeholders to address any discrepancies. Oversee inventory tracking and valuation processes, implementing best practices to optimize inventory levels and minimize waste. Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, to support decision-making and financial planning activities. Continuously evaluate and improve cost accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and organizational policies in all cost accounting activities. Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments, including project management, procurement, and finance, to achieve organizational goals and objectives.Hard Skills
Bachelor of Science in Accounting REQUIRED
5 - 10 years' accounting experience
Intermediate in Excel (proficient in pivot tables, v lookups, formulas)
Experience with process improvement
Experience working with auditors
Construction experience
Non-profit experience preferred

Job TypeThis is a permanent position.Work SiteThis is a fully on-site position in Omaha, Nebraska.Work Environment100% onsite (flexibility given), Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Additional hours may be expected in busier periods but are not expected to occur regularly. Dress code is business casual. The team consists of 4 members, with 9 total on the accounting team.
