The Content Project Manager coordinates, either directly or via the supervision of vendor full-service project managers, all aspects of editorial production from manuscript to final print and digital deliverablesfor Higher Education and High School titles across various disciplines (Humanities, Sciences, and Social Sciences). In a typical year, the Content Project Manager oversees production of a number of main-edition titles, as well as ancillaries and smaller-scale updates to existing digital projects.The Content Project Manager leverages a variety of production workflows and tools to achieve desired milestone dates, oversees scheduling, and coordinates the efforts of vendor project managers, authors, editors, and freelancers to ensure that projects remain on track. The project manager also ensures that vendor work meets the highest of standards and that costs and services are streamlined for projects in their charge.The Content Project Manager also handles day-to-day invoice processing.Studies have shown that women and people of color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they can perform every job description task. Utilize various digital production tools to execute tasks, report bugs/issues, and coordinate work between team members.Analyze and evaluate text manuscripts and art programs to determine content needs (such as art rendering and copyediting requirements) and design requirements. Gather project-specific information from content and manufacturing teams, to properly set up projects with vendors and coordinate all needed services. Compile detailed cost estimates for such services, and streamline services and costs when possible.Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to create schedules; monitor schedules and make revisions as circumstances require (either directly for actively managed titles or via supervision of vendor project managers).Supervise the work of vendor project managers for full-service projects, to ensure that proper workflows and specifications are followed and that project management meets the highest standards.Work with vendor partners to select editorial freelancers appropriate to each project, ensure that copyeditors, prooers, and indexers follow style guidelines, and enforce exacting standards for freelancer work.For actively managed projects, check all stages of proof and ePub, revisions, and final files to ensure quality standards are maintained.Build a detailed profile of each title for vendor partner (workflow, required services, unique features and specs), and initiate and review cost estimates.Work with vendor partners in both active-management and full-service capacities, depending on the unique circumstances for each project. Work with vendor to select, supervise, and evaluate copyeditors, prooers, indexers, and other freelancers; negotiate project-specific assignments based on evaluation of partner recommendations.Track project status and scheduling. Coordinate work between team members, assigning tasks and managing handoffs.Compile a detailed "living" record of project information for each title.
