ASRC Federal Technical Services is seeking a

System Test Engineer to join our team that supports the Federal Aviation Administration in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. This role will make an impact by meeting the future needs of our FAA customer that includes securing data across networks in the enterprise.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provide 2nd Level Engineering support for ADAS.
  • Support system development/testing/integration/deployment activities for the ADAS system.
  • Possess a technical understanding of systems; databases; networking; computing environments; virtualization.
  • Participate in system test and key site test activities as a tester
  • Attend system design reviews; technical interchange meetings; any other meetings as requested to support program and team.
  • Able to support software applications in Linux and Windows environments
  • Able to debug software issues in Linux and Windows environments
  • Some Test experience, and writing testing documents
  • Experience with other FAA or other large scale systems
  • Performs Bash scripting with SQL, C, C, C#, or any other coding languages

  • As applicable, attend/contribute in regular meetings and/or telecons with Program Office

The FAA Weather Processing Systems Sub Team has a requirement for a Computer Scientist/System Test Engineer in support of the AWOS Data Acquisition System (ADAS). This candidate will be able to learn the system to run current test procedures, and eventually write test procedures.

The Automated Weather Observing Systems (AWOS) Data Acquisition System (ADAS) acquires, processes, disseminates, and archives weather data products in support of the National Airspace System (NAS). Its primary function is to collect automated surface observations from various weather sensors located within the Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC) boundaries and to distribute to selected Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) systems for further distribution. ADAS also includes the Automated Lightning Detection and Reporting System (ALDARS) function. ADAS provides lightning data to enable these sensors to report on the range and direction of lightning and thunderstorm activity affecting an airport.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or Math, or a Bachelor's degree in another technical field with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and five (5) years of related work experience in a computer science or math field OR Master's Degree in any field of study with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours of either undergrad or grad study in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science and three (3) years related work experience in a computer science or math field.
  • The candidate works independently with limited supervision.
  • Provides expertise in software requirements analysis, design, design reviews, development, software testing, integration, installation, and maintenance of complex computer systems
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux OS
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • STEM or logic thinking background
  • A willingness to learn
