Maintenance MechanicJob Description
Perform the timely repair of equipment to keep production running to meet customer service expectations. Perform tasks in a cost-effective manner. Coordinate activities to be sure that work performed is timely, professional, clean, neat, and safe. Keep supervision up to date.
Plant maintenance includes but is not limited to: plumbing, electrical (low & high voltage), mechanical, painting, and cleaning. It includes, but is not limited to, the repair, maintenance, and installation of the following: a. Industrial process: spray driers, powders blenders, pumps, distillation equipment, percolators, mixers, motors, seals, heat exchangers, material handling equipment, filling equipment, etc. b. Mechanical process: exhaust fans, motors, boilers, water filtration, air compressors, hot water heaters, etc. c. Electrical processes: VFDs, PLCs, relays, starters, low voltage controls, etc.
Depending on skills, mechanic may be asked by supervision to focus more on specific disciplines- electrical, mechanical, pipe fitting, welding, soldering, etc. May need to lift objects up to 50lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined areas.
Use CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) to monitor, schedule, and document all preventative and reactive repair work orders. Prioritize maintenance work orders. Work with supervision to ensure the program provides a proper schedule to maintain all critical equipment. Make repairs as needed and identify improvements required.
Use BMS system to ensure all HVAC & mechanical equipment is running at peak performance.
Maintain boilers and comply with inspection requirements.
Work on new projects. Prepare areas for new processes and new equipment. Install new equipment. Participate in project testing and hand off to users.
Assist in the coordination of third-party contractor activities, including repairs, inspections, and scheduled maintenance.
Support and participate in Safety and Good Manufacturing Practices training, demonstrate teamwork and a customer-focused attitude. Participate in audits on request.
Hard Skills
Mechanical ability to work with motors, gear boxes, conveyors, etc.
Electrical experience using a wire diagram to troubleshoot a machine
Low and high voltage experience
Experience jumping into a control panel
Plumbing experience soldering pipe
Running PVC
Experience with pumps
