The Facilities Maintenance Specialist will report directly to the Facility Supervisor and is responsible for coordinating facility improvements and repairs at Headquarters (corporate office and associated laboratory). The position is also responsible for maintaining the mail room, shipping, and receiving packages.

Monday – Friday 3 days

Position Responsibilities and Specific Duties: (List in order of importance)

· Responsible for working with the Facilities Supervisor to maintain and monitor the building, associated utilities and grounds.

· Responsible for maintaining the mail room, shipping, and receiving packages.

· Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs/ tasks, including but not limited to lifting and moving materials, painting, plumbing, replacing light fixtures, carpentry, and other related maintenance activities using hand tools.

· Coordinate major facility improvement repairs with third-party vendors and assist in sourcing necessary supplies.

· Conduct routine life safety code inspections (Exit sign, emergency light, fire extinguisher, etc.)

· Responsible for maintaining the stock room and material utilization.

· Responsible for periodic shipment of laboratory hazardous materials and maintaining shipment log.

· Utilize proper personnel protective equipment (PPE) and must follow all health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies, procedures, and practices.

· Available for emergency on-call duties as required or assigned.

· Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Hazardous materials experience needed

· High school diploma or equivalent required.

· Previous experience in facilities or maintenance related field(s), preferred.

· Ability to operate tools, mechanical equipment and powered industrial mobile equipment.

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

· Experience with shipping and receiving and stock rooms

· Must be able to work from heights and have the ability to lift 50 pounds or greater.

· Have a pleasant, friendly, and helpful manner.

· Ability to use computer programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams and to use a computer to research information on internet)
