Auto Mechanic / Senior Technician

About Us
Tony’s Boulevard Service Center is a full-service auto repair shop serving the Pompton Plains area, offering everything from engine and transmission work to electrical diagnostics, emissions inspections, undercar, and heating/cooling. We have over 40 years of experience in the area with 2 locations and a strong repeat customer base.
We’re looking for an experienced, skilled mechanic who can lead by example, mentor others, and handle diagnostics and repairs independently.
Key Responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance across a wide range of vehicle systems: engines, transmissions, electronic/electrical systems, heating & cooling, suspension/undercar, emission control systems, etc.
Interpret service bulletins, wiring diagrams, OEM specifications, and technical manuals to solve complex issues.
Take ownership of jobs from start to finish: estimating labor hours, ordering parts, executing repairs, conducting quality checks, final inspections.
Communicate with customers when necessary: explaining repair needs, presenting options, answering technical questions.
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas; ensure tools and diagnostic equipment are properly maintained.
Adhere to all shop and safety protocols, including environmental and waste disposal regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Minimum 10+ years of hands-on auto/mechanical repair experience (or equivalent).
ASE certification(s) preferred.
Strong diagnostic skills and experience with computerized diagnostics, scan tools, and electrical systems.
Deep mechanical knowledge spanning multiple vehicle makes and models.
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and work in a team environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to lift moderate weight (e.g. parts, tools), work under vehicles, and perform physical tasks typical to repair shops.
Salary position, not flat rate. Salary is based on experience. Salary amount, benefits and commission discussed during interview.
