We (liberal minded) are seeking input and informal conversations as we explore long-term support options for a rural property in northern New Mexico. This is not an immediate hire.
The goal is to design a stable, respectful, and sustainable arrangement, and we are intentionally exploring more than one staffing model.
Models Under Consideration
Option 1: On-Site Caretaker Couple
A couple living in a lovely, private home, on-site, with responsibilities divided between:
Full-time property work (grounds, light maintenance, seasonal tasks)
Part-time household and administrative support (cleaning, light cooking from time to time, 8:30am - 12:30pm weekdays)
Salary plus wonderful living quarters provided, with all expenses paid
Option 2: Separate and Unrelated Roles
The primary residence rented separately
A part-time housekeeper / administrative assistant role (cleaning, basic household upkeep, light administrative support, set weekday hours)
A full-time landscaping and maintenance role
These positions would be separate and unrelated, with no shared responsibilities or coordination between them
Across both options, we value:
Respectful communication and the ability to take direction without conflict
Advocates for property owners
Reliability and self-direction
Clear boundaries and professionalism
Long-term thinking rather than short-term arrangements
Housing, great compensation, and scope would vary depending on the model and would be appropriate for the right long-term fit.
If you have experience in any of these types of roles, or if you know someone who may be interested in either situation, we would welcome a brief response or referral describing backgrounds and perspective.
