Responsibilities The incumbent in this position is responsible for all areas of canteen operations relating to retail, food, vending, sales, merchandising, accountability, misc. service of the canteen in Brooklyn, NY VAMC. Brooklyn is a consolidated station and as the Chief of this location, the incumbent will also oversee operations at the St. Albans Community Living Center in Queens, NY. The incumbent is responsible for a full range of personnel management, administrative controls, reviews, & processes relative to canteen operations. e.g., POGs, RPOS, inventory controls, stock schedules, food safety, sanitation, promotional programs, etc. The incumbent is responsible for attaining financial goals & implementing program objectives as established by VCSCO and/or Region Director. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Minimum of 3-5 years of direct food/retail management experience. Prior experience with inventory management, supply cost and shrinkage controls, and P&L management experience. Proven track record of building sales, increasing profits, and staff development. Ability to assess business needs and problem-solve. Hands-on leadership with a strong focus on service and hospitality. Proficient computer skills using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, etc.). Experience with POS Systems. ServSafe certification required or obtained within 90 days of hire date. Education Associate Degree preferred, but not required, in Business, Hospitality, or Management.
