About the Role:
Our client, a national real estate investment and management firm, is seeking a Property Accountant to support the financial operations of a diverse commercial office portfolio across the U.S. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with both corporate and property-level teams.
The Property Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis, while also supporting acquisitions, dispositions, and other strategic transactions. This position offers high visibility and regular interaction with senior leadership and property management partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Review monthly operating reports submitted by property management teams to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with property managers, accountants, and leasing professionals across the portfolio.
Review and process property-level invoices and ensure proper coding and documentation.
Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts; perform analysis on variances and trends.
Support the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and financial models for assigned properties.
Conduct and review lease analyses, including net effective rent calculations for new and existing tenants.
Assist with due diligence and integration activities related to acquisitions, dispositions, and financings.
Coordinate year-end audit and review processes, providing necessary documentation and schedules.
Participate in defining and tracking portfolio-level operational metrics and KPIs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or commercial real estate.
Strong understanding of GAAP and real estate accounting principles.
Proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks; experience with MRI, Yardi, or Argus is a plus.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
