This hybrid position can be located anywhere in the M&T footprint.Overview:This exciting and critical position is responsible for the centralized commercial bank exam management function. Responsibilities will include relationship management, exam coordination and exam results post-closing. We’re seeking a diligent partner to liaison with internal stakeholders (including Audit, CTG and Credit Review), presenting information on major business initiatives and a demonstrated ability to lead any escalation, issue management and closure activities. This position will drive real time preparation and monitoring of open or closed commercial exam requests, confirming, and communicating with the right business partners, and ensuring they’re in “the know”. In addition, the position is responsible for partnering with business lines for appropriate response and/or remediation plans; this includes all appropriate remediation efforts from planning, implementation, and sustainability. Our ideal candidate will have commercial bank exam management experience, with a desire to take this function to the next level.Primary Responsibilities:
Drive the development, execution, and reporting of the business unit's exam management program. Ensure exam management is performed in accordance with M&T's First Line of Defense Guidance on Management of Risks & Internal Controls and professional standards.
Create and maintain exam management, reporting to Business Unit Management. Provide direct assistance/support to the First Line Risk Officer
Identify emerging risks and risk themes associated with exam findings and exceptions. Raise thematic risks to Senior Leadership for comprehensive evaluation and support a robust remediation approach.
Ensure the effective and efficient management and reporting of issues and support comprehensive remediation plans development. Appropriately escalate identified issues to the First Line Risk Officer and business unit management.
Develop, implement and oversee the maintenance of exam management procedures for the Commercial Bank.
Provide coaching and mentoring to the staff. Review and approve exam materials and responses. Build a working relationship with business unit management, Internal Audit, Credit Review, Credit Risk, Corporate Operational Risk and Corporate Compliance Portfolio Managers.
Exercise usual authority of a manager concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management and terminations.
Adhere to applicable compliance/operational risk controls in accordance with Company or regulatory standards and policies.

Maintain M&T internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
Complete other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 7 years' relevant work experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 11 years' higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 7 years' relevant work experienceM&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees.
