I’m looking for a live-in caregiver for my elderly mother. I’m looking for someone compassionate, patient, and kind. The caregiver must have experience with dementia patients. I’m looking for someone in the NY / NJ / CT / PA area. It would be great if you have a PCA, HHA, CNA certification, or if you have a Dementia certification. However, a certification is not necessary if you can verify that you have prior experience with dementia patients.
My mom needs help with activities of daily living - bathing, dressing, meals, light exercise and medication reminders. She suffers from vascular dementia (not Alzheimer’s, although some of the symptoms she has are similar to Alzheimers). She also has episodes of sundowning a few times a week. She sleeps soundly through the night so there are no overnight duties.
Other duties include basic housekeeping, light house cleaning, and laundry.
I’m her daughter and I live nearby in Stony Point NY (about 30 miles north of NYC). I work full time but visit almost daily for dinner. My brother is also very involved and visits every week.
In your response, please share a bit about your experience and what you have learned from working with dementia patients. Also, please send a phone number (or other means of contacting you) and the best time to reach you.
Thank you!
