Concern Housing is seeking an Assistant Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator to join our team and work in the the Opioid Prevention Program! The Assistant Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator will support the Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator with facilitating various activities within the program. This position focuses on assisting with program planning, mentorship, and creating a safe and engaging environment for participants. The Assistant Coordinator will work with adults and youths to promote personal growth, skill development, and positive social interactions.
Position: Assistant Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator
Location: Port Jefferson Station, NY
Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday; 11am – 7pm
Salary: $42,500/yr.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research and identify community resources as related to specific program workshop topics geared towards enhancing
individuals’ personal well-being, including healthy relationships, financial literacy, substance use prevention, job
readiness, stress management, etc.
- Co-facilitate/facilitate workshops and activities as indicated by the Director.
- Provide transportation to external forums, trainings and workshops.
- Provide mentorship to help individuals build self-esteem and confidence.
- Attend weekly supervision and staff meetings.
- Remain current with all agency required compliance documents and trainings.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Community Outreach & Engagement Coordinator.
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework in a related field is a plus. Prior experience working with adults and youth in a mentoring, coaching, or educational capacity is preferred. Experience working with individuals who have substance use histories. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of youth development principles and issues facing young people. Patience, empathy, and the ability to relate to and engage with diverse groups of people. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from program leadership.
