Our culture in Risk Management and Compliance is all about thinking outside the box, leveraging data and technology, challenging the status quo and striving to be best-in-class.As Public Finance Associate in the Wholesale Credit Risk organization, you will work directly on direct lending transaction and portfolio management including analyzing financial statements, monitoring industry changes, preparing credit approval memos, joining discussions with senior credit officers and bankers and setting up credit facilities in accordance with the Bank's policies. The Wholesale Credit Risk Public Finance Team manages financial exposure to a client base consisting of central, state and local governments, airports, not-for-profit healthcare entities, institutions of higher education and non-profit entities in the United States. Our team provides extensive diligence, document negotiation, risk grading and ultimate credit approval of new transactions, including taxable and tax-exempt credit structures, derivatives and securities trading relationships, intraday liquidity facilities and other credit exposures.Job Responsibilities
Manage and monitor a portfolio of client credit exposures, across industry classes, on an ongoing basis
Provide ownership of client credit needs and projects and be able to develop and recommend a credit view
Conduct credit analysis and seek approval for all transactions, including loans, derivatives and operating exposures as part of a deal team
Work directly on transactions including review of legal documentation for bilateral and syndicated finance structures.
Build strong relationships and maintain open communication channels with colleagues across the firm, including Bankers, Operations and Legal
Keep abreast of changing legislation, governmental actions and economic trends that impact various US Public Finance clients
Manage the credit due diligence process for clients
Prepare and review written credit approval documents, which include financials analysis and modeling
Train, mentor and develop analysts and other junior members of the team
Help drive and support a culture of innovation and continuous efficiency improvement
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
Bachelor's degree
3 years of relevant work experience in financial analysis, credit risk or economic research, coupled with an interest in the public sector and municipal finance
Prior experience with traditional credit products, credit agreements and other loan documentation
Strong understanding of financial reporting, including ability to analyze financial statements and projections
Ability to think independently and critically with analytical curiosity, problem-solving and research skills
Ability to work in a team environment, as well as independently, with a willingness to learn and support team initiatives
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, PowerPoint and Word
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
Academic training in the principals of accounting, financial capital market products, public administration and macroeconomics
Prior experience with US Public Finance is desirable
Outstanding verbal and written communication, along with strong inter-personal skills
Ability to effectively present analysis and interact with key stakeholders
Deadline orientation; close attention to detail and accuracy; ability to perform under pressure
