Req Number 143447Job DescriptionScreens and analyzes cellular changes that will lead to a preliminary diagnosis in gynecological and non-gynecological cases. Assists pathologists in finalizing atypical cases and helps determine the needs of patient treatment.Job Responsibility1.Acts as lead (senior) cytotechnologist for addressing technical issues in the absence of supervisor.2.Performs cytologic evaluation on GYN and Non-GYN material, including FNAs, by screening each case carefully, marking the appropriate fields for preliminary evaluation and entering the results in the lab information system.3.Actively assists at FNA procedures on site by collecting clinical date, processing the specimens and communicating specimen adequacy to the radiologist/clinician and pathologist.4.Performs cytopreparatory work including registering and accessioning specimens, preparing specimens for microscopic review and lab cleanup.5.Performs secretarial work, including answering phones, faxing and mailing reports and preparing cases for conferences and outside review.6.Performs related duties, as required.ADA Essential FunctionsJob QualificationBachelor's Degree in a related science and certificate from accredited school of cytotechnology, required.Minimum of six (6) years relevant clinical experience, required.ASCP Certification (American Society of Clinical Pathologists), required.NYS Cytotechnologist license, required.Knowledge of microscope, staining machine, centrifuge, bio-hood, Lab Information Systems, required.Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, required.Strong organizational and diagnostic skills, required.Additional Salary DetailThe salary range and/or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.When determining a team member's base salary and/or rate, several factors may be considered as applicable (e.g., location, specialty, service line, years of relevant experience, education, credentials, negotiated contracts, budget and internal equity).The salary range for this position is $76.02-$86.94/hourIt is Northwell Health’s policy to provide equal employment opportunity and treat all applicants and employees equally regardless of their age, race, creed/religion, color, national origin, immigration status or citizenship status, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, sex/gender, gender identity, gender expression, disability, pregnancy, genetic information or genetic predisposition or carrier status, marital or familial status, partnership status, victim of domestic violence, sexual or other reproductive health decisions, or other characteristics protected by applicable law.
