Café Deux is seeking a highly skilled and hospitality-driven Restaurant Captain to lead our front-of-house team during peak service times. This role goes far beyond hosting—our Captains are the operational heartbeat of each shift, the bridge between guests, servers, and the kitchen, and the standard-setters for hospitality and service excellence.

The menu is inspired by traditional French and reimagined American comfort food that allows for global influence.
About the Position:
A Captain at Café Deux is essentially a service leader. While you will manage reservations, answer calls, and greet and seat guests, those tasks are only one part of a much larger and more impactful role. Captains are responsible for driving the entire guest experience from start to finish, supporting the team, and ensuring smooth, efficient, and elevated service throughout each shift.
Duties & Responsibilities:
-Greet and seat guests warmly, ensuring a positive first impression.
-Provide menu recommendations and assist servers in taking accurate orders.
-Maintain awareness of all tables and their stage of service and know where every guest is in their dining experience at all times.
-Build relationships with guests through professional, friendly conversation, aiming to turn first-time visitors into regulars.
-Act as the first and final point of contact for any concerns, questions, or complaints.
-Communicate directly with the kitchen to ensure accurate and timely preparation of orders.
-Monitor table flow, ticket times, and order progression using Toast.
-Maintain the smooth and efficient operation of the dining room during all service periods.
-Always be aware of service pacing, guest needs, and staff performance.
-Ensure food quality, service consistency, and cleanliness meet Café Deux’s standards.
-Monitor dining room sanitation, table setups, and overall presentation throughout the shift.
-Address all guest issues promptly, professionally, and empathetically.
-Prepare the dining room before service, including table setups, station stocking, and reservation review.
-Oversee end-of-night tasks: restocking, cleaning, preparing service for the next day, and closing out the cash drawer.
-Maintain exceptional knowledge of the menu, ingredients, allergens, and beverage offerings.
-Upsell food and beverage items tactfully and effectively.
-Support management with insights that help improve service and operations.
Requirements and Qualifications:
-Prior experience in a lead server, captain, or FOH supervisor role.
-Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
-A warm, engaging, and professional approach to hospitality.
-Ability to multitask, anticipate needs, and maintain awareness throughout service.
-A proactive, guest-first mindset with a passion for creating memorable experiences.
-Knowledge of fine dining etiquette.
-Knowledge of Toast and/or Resy is a plus.
-Spanish knowledge is a plus, though not required.
-Flexible availability: open to both day shifts and evening shifts.
-Full-time position (30+ hours per week)
-Hourly: 15/hr + tips. (Average $25-$30/hr)
