Title: Production Generalist
Reports to: Team Leader
Type: Full-Time
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Status: Non-Union
Rate Band: $16.50 to $18.00 / hour
Position Summary: The Generalist is an important member of our team, assisting the team leader & specialists in accurately following yogurt production processes and maintaining our exacting level of quality. The Generalist is responsible for learning and following step-by-step protocols in hands-on tasks to maintain taste, consistency and cleanliness of yogurt products. The Generalist is expected to accomplish these tasks by keeping open communication with the team and management and contributing to a positive and enthusiastic workspace.
General Responsibilities:
Following procedures in day-to-day production:
Learn & follow specific step-by-step instructions in each production process laid out by the Team Leader & Specialists
Maintain a high level of care in designated tasks
Maintain a high level of sanitation throughout production facility to ensure food safety and longevity of product
Maintain an organized and clean workspace to ensure maximum efficiency and safety
Complete tasks in a timely manner designated by production procedures and Team Leader
Work as productive member of a team:
Communicate questions and concerns to Team Leader & Specialists
Focus on details of each production step to ensure quality
Fulfill prescribed work schedule communicated by management
Arrive to work at scheduled time at the beginning of each shift
Take breaks at designated times during shifts
Complete tasks in a timely manner to ensure all expected work is completed by the end of each schedule shift
Contribute to a positive and supportive working environment for production team members
Specific Tasks:
Perform necessary yogurt product production tasks in accordance with protocols:
Hand strain and whisk yogurt to desired consistency
Pot and fill jars with yogurt and fruit preserves/jams
Label and package delicate yogurt, related beverages and other products
Prepare ingredients for use in production
Prepare and organize yogurt packaging materials with accuracy
Maintain a high level of sanitation and organization:
Hand wash and sanitize all equipment and surfaces during and between each step of production
Machine wash and sanitize all designated equipment and tools
Maintain order and organization of equipment, supplies and ingredients throughout production facility and warehouse space
Follow food safety guidelines regarding product temperature throughout production
Maintain a high level of personal hygiene in production utilizing proper handwashing technique and use of provided gloves, hairnets, linens, etc.
Periodically perform full facility deep cleaning procedures in order to maintain high level of sanitation and prevent contamination of finished products
Physical Requirements & Expectations:
You are expected to be able to work alongside the rest of the team, demonstrating proper & safe operational technique as outlined in training.
We expect you to show up on time and remain on site (save for breaks) during their scheduled shift
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must be able to stand for up to 4 consecutive hours.
