NY Competitive Internship Program: Foreign Attorney/Law Students/ LLM Students/ College Students
Midtown NYC Law Firm Boutique immigration and removal defense law firm hosting a 3-month regimented internship program. We seek for an intern to learn and assist in law firm responsibilities. A friendly, fast-paced international environment to gain experience and learn while working with supportive colleagues. 95 percent of our clients are from Latin America and speak Spanish so Spanish is a big Plus.
The attorneys are all experienced immigration and removal defense attorneys.
Excellent training for a foreign attorney or LLM student seeking to gain experience in an American law firm. Foreign attorney will, of course, receive legal training and assignments commensurate with their background and position. The work will be on par with similarly complex legal work of a law graduate awaiting admission to the bar.
Intern will gain experience in all aspects of the immigration practice, and will work under supervision of the associate attorneys and paralegals. Intern will receive training in :
1) initially evaluating all type of immigration cases,
2) writing correspondence and legal motions,
3) completing immigration applications for EAC, U visas, asylums, TPS, AOS, VAWA, ETC.
4) interviewing clients and translating for senior immigration associates.
6) assisting in preparation for immigration court hearings and trials.
Intern will be provided with own desk space, use of high speed Internet and telephone. A small stipend will be provided for travel expenses and lunch.
A strong letter of recommendation will be provided upon successful completion of internship. An evaluation and exit interview will be conducted and intern will be considered for a permanent offer of employment at conclusion.
