We're seeking an experienced boiler mechanic who takes pride in quality workmanship and thrives on solving complex mechanical problems. This is a hands-on field position for someone who values craftsmanship, customer relationships, and working with a team that respects skilled tradespeople.
Responsibilities:
# Diagnostics & Troubleshooting:
- Diagnose issues in commercial gas and oil fired steam and hot water boiler systems
- Identify problems with burner section, controls, piping, and all related components
- Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to pinpoint system failures
- Assess whether repairs or full replacements are needed
# Repairs & Component Replacement:
- Repair and replace burners, including combustion components and fuel systems
- Replace pumps, valves, steam traps, pressure controls, and safety devices
- Repair and replace piping, gaskets, refractory and seals
- Work on boiler controls, sensors, and automation systems
# Installations & Major Projects:
- Perform complete commercial boiler replacements
- Install new boiler systems in existing mechanical rooms
- Coordinate with team on large-scale projects
# Maintenance & Service:
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections
- Respond to emergency breakdowns and service calls
- Perform seasonal startups and shutdowns
- Test and calibrate safety controls and operating systems
- Document all work, parts used, and system conditions
# Must Have:
- 5+ years hands-on experience with boiler/heating installation and service
- Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose commercial boiler systems.
- Ability to perform complete boiler replacements.
-Strong knowledge of plumbing codes, mechanical systems, and tools (e.g., soldering/brazing equipment, diagnostic testers).
- Valid driver's license with a clean record
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work in tight spaces.
