Description Chris Preble from Robert Half is working with a Syracuse client of his that has a newly created remote Senior Accountant hiring need. You MUST already be a resident of NY State to be considered for this role. Must have a bachelor's in accounting. CPA or MBA (or in progress) is an asset.Details:We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join our team that has great work life balance and excellent benefits. Reporting into the Controller, the role will involve managing essential accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a remote setting, communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders across different locations.Responsibilities: Help oversee daily accounting operations, guaranteeing accurate recording of financial transactions in compliance with GAAP. Maintain and update the general ledger, which includes the preparation of journal entries, accruals, and adjustments. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Conduct detailed variance analysis, comparing actual performance to budget and forecasts, and provide explanations for discrepancies. Provide financial data and insights to support management decision-making. Involvement in the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all reconciliations are completed and any necessary adjustments are recorded. Prepare and review key account reconciliations, including bank, fixed assets, prepaids, and intercompany transactions. Assist in preparing audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors during financial audits. Ensure compliance with internal control procedures, safeguarding company assets and maintaining accurate financial records. Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls and accounting processes. Stay current with changes in accounting standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance in all financial practices.Requirements Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or MBA (or in progress) is preferred. Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
