The successful candidate will interact with and contribute to technical teams covering a wide spectrum of exciting and innovative research and semiconductor technology projects. Currently the Microfabrication Team is working with teams in nanotechnology, advanced semiconductor packaging, biosensors, quantum computing and advanced wafer testing. This software engineer will be a part of a technical team responsible for the technology development execution and lab management software that handles the R&D of many of these projects. The lab management software enables the pilot line, which processes hardware for the research and semiconductor technology projects. As such, Java programming and the familiarity with the DB2 database (postgreSQL language) are important. Applicants for this position must be highly motivated, excellent problem solvers, innovative and possess strong team skills with the ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.

Job Duties:
  • Possess program management skills for software development.
  • Be able to program in the Java language.
  • Have familiarity with the DB2 database and postgreSQL programming language.
  • Identify, communicate, and solve problems, organize projects and workflow.
  • Accurately document and summarize new coding and overall project workflow, as specified.
  • Work closely with Engineers, Scientists, and Inventors from many different disciplines. Must be able to work independently as well as be a good team player.
  • Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Slack.

Skills Required:
  • Experience in Java programming and the DB2 database PostgreSQL programming.
  • Must have program management experience.
  • Must be capable of learning to understand, troubleshoot, edit and update existing programming code.
  • Must be capable of writing new code for enhanced features.
  • Must be very flexible to learn new tasks as the workload is varied.
  • Additional experience; Database – PostgreSQL and Oracle, Programming – Python, Web Development – Java, Python frameworks/libraries, REST API, and NGINX, Git/Github, Containerization/Virtualization/Docker, WebSphere Application Server.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills with ability to work with Engineers, Scientists, and Inventors from many different disciplines. Must be able to work independently as well as be a good team player.
