Apply Today!Job Summary and QualificationsRole Summary: Evaluates patients, develops care plan to treat patients, uses procedures and techniques to change condition/function consistent with the rehabilitation diagnosis and prognosis, supervises and coordinates therapeutic care and communicates evaluation results to patients, families and appropriate staff. Teaches and mentors other staff and participates in the management of resources for patient care and organizational improvement. May provide services off-site within the scope of the job description as needed by the department.Clinical Fellowship Experience will include standard Clinical Fellow experience expectations (See Addendum for the ASHA Clinical Fellowship Experience) including:

A minimum of 1,260 hours and a minimum of 36 weeks of full-time experience/ASHA required minimum of 5 hours per week of employment.

A Minimum of 80% direct clinical contact related to the management of disorders that fit within ASHA Scope of Practice in Speech-Language Pathology.

A minimum of 6 hours of on-site and in-person direct supervision and 6 hours of indirect supervision activities will occur during each quarter of CF timeline.

SLP CF will have opportunities for the following:

Clinical evaluation and treatment experience in the areas of motor speech, language, cognition, and swallowing.

Didactic experience, including: surgery observations as able, participation in multidisciplinary rounds, swallowing conference and monthly journal club meetings.

VFSS and/or FEES training opportunities as able.

Participation in scholarly activities including: case presentations, multidisciplinary education, and research project with the opportunity to present at a conference or submit for publication.

When available, leadership experience including non-clinical mentorship of the next CFY.

What qualifications you will need:

Required Education: Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology, or Communication Disorders, or Communication Sciences and Disorders

Preferred Education: none

Required License: Current North Carolina License to practice Speech Therapy, and BLS Healthcare Provider

Preferred License: None

Required Experience: None required – new graduate eligible

Preferred Experience: Clinical affiliations having a wide variety of acute care procedures, especially videofluorographic swallow evaluations and non-instrumental swallow evaluations. Experience with cognitive and language disorders, motor-speech disorders, dysphagia treatment, especially with neurology, cardiopulmonary, head/neck cancer, traumatic brain injury, and tracheostomy and ventilation management.
