However, the development of new technologies and the climate change challenges are speeding up regulation development around zero emissions vehicles, ADAS systems, automation, cybersecurity, and sustainability. Volvo Group is seeking a Regulation Manager who will work alongside and lead US Regulation Specialists in coordinating the regulation development activities that NHTSA, EPA, CARB, and ECCC are driving as they relate to Mack and the Volvo Group.Responsibilities

Drive the definition and execution of the regulation development strategy, in alignment with the Volvo Group product solution strategies.

Assess, coordinate, and secure the needed Volvo positions in your domain of responsibility are established, are consistent with Volvo Group positions, are anchored in the appropriate fora, and you will drive and synchronize the lobbying activities.

Together with other regulation specialists, you will work with federal and state regulatory agencies to influence the regulation development. To do so, you will contribute to internal activities to prepare and anchor the Volvo Group position and our lobbying strategies.

Act as a Volvo representative in the Truck and Engine Manufacturers’ Associations’ (EMA) committees relevant to your assigned regulatory domain, you will work with our competitors to build consensus positions (respecting Competition Law Compliance (CLC)) and you will secure that our lobbying position is well reflected in the industry position.

Coordinate the regulation development allocated to several regulation specialists, with the aim to secure the expected final regulation development is aligned with the assumptions we provide internally (technical content and timeline of implementation).

Drive the coordination between Engineering functions, Public Affairs and Governmental & Regulatory Affairs so we have a strong and consistent approach.

Lead internal communication about regulation development in your domain, secure that the deliverables from the regulation specialists are available and up to date, and secure activities to prepare the organization for compliance with expected product regulated requirements in due time.

Together with the regulation specialists, you will support in various fora to promote Volvo's position on legislative/regulatory issues.

Participate in conferences, public hearings, and other public fora to support Volvo’s position and products relative to regulatory impacts, and to gain intelligence on developing regulations.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field; Master's Degree preferred

4 years’ experience in regulation development in the automotive area in US/Canada

Experience with automotive business (preferably Heavy Duty Trucks or Commercial Vehicles)

Strong background/experience in automotive regulation development in US/Canada.

Familiar with the U.S., California and Canadian regulation development processes.
