Kemp Sigmon Construction is looking for a Lube Technician to work on our Fleet and Heavy Equipment
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary
The Lube Technician performs preventive maintenance and basic service tasks on company vehicles and heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, and other fleet machinery. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the reliability, safety, and longevity of the company’s fleet by performing timely oil changes, lubrication, fluid inspections, and filter replacements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance on trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, loaders, and compactors.
Conduct oil and filter changes, grease fittings, check and replace fluids (engine, hydraulic, coolant, differential, etc.).
Inspect hoses, belts, filters, seals, and other key components for wear or leaks.
Check tire pressure, inspect treads, and assist with tire maintenance as needed.
Maintain detailed and accurate service and inspection records.
Identify and report equipment deficiencies or potential mechanical issues to the lead technician or supervisor.
Maintain a clean and organized work area; ensure tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
Comply with all safety procedures, including the proper handling and disposal of oils, lubricants, and hazardous materials.
Operate service trucks or mobile lube units to perform on-site maintenance when needed.
Assist mechanics and technicians with more complex repairs or maintenance tasks when required.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required.
1–2 years of experience as a lube technician or maintenance assistant in a fleet, construction, or heavy equipment environment preferred.
Basic knowledge of air brakes, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
Ability to safely operate and maneuver heavy machinery in and around the shop area.
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred or willingness to obtain).
Strong attention to detail, work ethic, and commitment to safety.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in outdoor or shop environments subject to varying weather conditions.
Work Environment:
Work performed in a shop and outdoor yard setting. Exposure to heavy machinery, oils, grease, and noise. Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots required.
Physical Requirements
Frequent standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing on/off equipment. Manual dexterity for working with tools and parts. Ability to safely perform physical tasks in confined spaces or elevated areas.
