Safety Specialist

The Safety Specialist assists in monitoring and coordinating safety program, including safety inspections, accident investigations, and safety training.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe duties and responsibilities of this position shall consist of, but not be limited to, the following: Develops, implements maintain safety programs such as lockout/tagout, machine guarding, fire protection, powered industrial vehicles, and other OSHA safety compliance programs.Advises the company on safety protocols and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance as mandated by local, state, and federal agencies, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections.Facilitating safety committee meetings (developing agenda, providing subject matter expertise, and ensuring compliance with regulations.Promote Safety Awareness through communication, education, and participation in safety initiatives.Manages safety training and certification programs such as OSHA required annual training, First Aid/CPR, forklift, etc. and maintains records. Analyzes accident and incident reports for trends; makes recommendations for correcting unsafe conditions and actions.Works with Safety Manager and Human Resources on work-related injuries and illnesses.Works with maintenance to assure all machines and equipment are operating in a safe and efficient manner.
