Hanson Truck and Trailer Repair is seeking a skilled Lead Diesel Mechanic / Shop Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, with experience in various types of light, medium and heavy duty vehicles. Including Dump Trucks, Semi Trucks, Fire Trucks, Ambulances, Pickup Trucks, Work Trucks and any type of trailer from Semi Trailer to Utility Trailer. This role requires a detail-oriented individual who can work independently and as part of a team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of all gas and diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repairs on gas, diesel engines, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs.

Operate heavy - Medium and Light Vehicles and equipment safely and efficiently to diagnose mechanical issues.

Conduct air brake inspections and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.

Utilize hand tools and specialized equipment for repairs and maintenance tasks.

Maintain accurate records of all repairs and services performed.

Collaborate with team members to improve processes and enhance service quality.

Supervises the day to day activities of all Service Department employees.

Customer service is a priority.

100% interface with customers.

Dispatch and or assist with onsite customer service repair calls accordingly.

Process repair order paperwork and turn into invoicing department.

Field incoming customer road calls, take all necessary information.

Create service estimates.

Contact customers for approvals and PO numbers as required.

Reviews and analyzes performance results and takes corrective action when applicable.

Organizes, trains, and develops all Service Department employees.

Enforces all company policies including accident and workers compensation paperwork.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment inside and outside of the building.

Other projects and tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Transportation Industry experience is a plus.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role, preferably within a dealership or heavy equipment environment.

Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, and HVAC systems.

Proficiency in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and repair techniques for various machinery.

Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and effectively.

Experience with farm machinery is a plus.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) as required by the job duties.

Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members.
