Job Title: Journeyman Welder/FabricatorJob DescriptionWe are seeking a skilled Journeyman Welder/Fabricator for a 9-month contract-to-hire position. You will work at $33.19/hour with core shift hours from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Responsibilities include planning and laying out work according to models, blueprints, and other specifications. You will work with common metals and alloys, welding mild steel, structural steel, and other metal parts. The role requires the use of various hand welding and flame cutting equipment, including ARC, MIG, TIG, and gas torches. You will interpret sketches, prints, operation sheets, and verbal instructions, and set up and operate fabrication machines such as brakes, rolls, sheers, flame cutters, grinding equipment, drill presses, lathes, and mills. Precision work to close tolerances is required, including heat-treating metal parts and assembling parts to prescribed tolerances.Hard Skills

You will work in the NASA Machine Shop, supporting various campus projects. While the core shift hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, candidates may need to rotate to 2nd and 3rd shift hours during testing periods. Shift differentials are provided: 7.5% for 2nd shift and 10% for 3rd shift.
