DescriptionSAIC is currently seeking a mid- to senior-level Systems Engineer to join our team in Cleveland, Ohio in support of the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center.Background:NASA GRC is formulating a large cryo-fluid demonstration spacecraft. The team is led by a civil servant project manager and has a combined CS and contractor team. SAIC is providing the Bus Lead, an experienced systems engineer who can hit the ground running in coordinating with the discipline leads in creating a concept vehicle design that closes.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

As Bus Lead you will coordinate the efforts of the Structures, Mechanical, Thermal, Power, and Avionics discipline engineering efforts using the off-the-shelf (OTS) spacecraft bus selected for use in this demonstration.

The effort is currently in the pre-Phase A stage, with Mission Concept Review (MCR) slated for March 2025.

Systems Engineering support will ensure coordination among various organizational elements of the project as well as within the bus element for successful completion of MCR.

QualificationsRequired Education:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years or more experience; Master's degree and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Familiarity and experience with NASA or DOD systems engineering process and procedures.

Able to lead a team of SMEs in developing NASA Mission Concept Review (MCR) artifacts supporting

Stakeholder Identification

Stakeholder Expectation definition

Project Concept Definition

Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) of concept vehicle

Must be a team player.

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.

Other Desired Skills:

Experience with spaceflight programs, projects, and hardware.

Familiarity with NASA Procedural Requirements NPR 7123.5 and NPR 7120.5.

Desired Education/Experience:

STEM degree with one of the following combinations of education and experience:

Bachelor’s degree with more than 5 years of experience

Master’s degree with more than 3 years of experience

Other Position Requirements:

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

Location:

Local hybrid (3 day in the office, 2 telework) is preferred.Full Remote might be possible.

Duration:

Work has a hard end date of 3/31/25.There is no guarantee of continuance, but this is also a good foot-in-the-door introduction to the GRC customer.
