We are always pursuing excellence to exceed our ambitions goals, rewarding both the goal outcome and how we achieve it.PurposeThe Damage Prevention Specialist II is responsible for conducting investigations on all excavation related damages to Liberty’s subsurface installations, identifying and marking the location of our utilities to minimize damage or disruption of service due to construction excavation activities. To help implement our companies Damage Prevention Program including performing patrols, locates, and construction and excavation inspections. Officers will conduct proactive outreach to excavators, including Licensed Contractors (2nd Party and 3rd Party Excavators), Public Works Departments, Agricultural Professionals, Handymen, and Homeowners, etc. The officer will have leadership responsibilities and may act as a supervisor. This is a safety sensitive position. Position will require 30-50% travel time within Liberty’s service territory. Non-Union, Supervisor level management position.Accountabilities

Have the ability and determination to work safely.

Conduct investigations for all damages, document, and report any violations.

Must be willing to work overtime as required and is subject to emergency call outs and stand by.

Must be willing to travel to other areas to assist and work as needs of the business require, this includes work assignments in other districts which may require overnight stay(s) and/or weekend work.

Locate and mark facilities per Company Damage Prevention Program and One-Call procedures prior to and during excavations.

Coordinate local Damage Prevention and Public Awareness activities.

Provide oversight and inspection to ensure asset protection and compliance with Company procedures for excavation activities near pipeline facilities.

Represent the Company during contact with landowner/tenants, public officials/emergency officials and at local meetings. (One-Call, Pipeline Groups, Soil Conservation, GUCC, etc.)

Train and oversee company and third-party personnel as required (e.g., personnel and progression, contractors, visitors . . .).

Perform governmental compliance activities (PHMSA, State Agencies, EPA, etc.).

Perform mapping, recordkeeping, and data entry duties per Company policies.

Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.

Actively participate in safety programs and initiatives, participate in the development of O&M Procedures, Site Specific Procedures, project scopes and work plans.

Complete all applicable documentation and recordkeeping; perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, regulatory and Company tariff requirements.

Develop deep understanding and proficiency with Georgia 811 law.

Demonstrate performance towards operational excellence.

Deal with a wide variety of people with tact, courtesy, and professionalism.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.

5 years of utility or related experience (in damage prevention, and/or public safety and/or investigations).

Proficiency in computer applications (including MS Office)

2+ years of experience in conducting complex investigations.

Supervisory experience is an asset
