Job Description

As a

Journeyman Electrician, you will install, repair, erect, dismantle, assemble and maintain all types of plant machinery, equipment, structures, and electrical or electronic equipment and the component parts. This position will include such skills as, mechanical maintenance, carpenter work, plumbing, welding, electrical, small machine tool operation, sheet metal work, and masonry work.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Safely and competently perform troubleshooting, repairs, and inspections on a wide variety of equipment, in both inside and outdoor applications in a continuous operational environment.
  • Performs electrical isolation of equipment for safety of self and others as part of isolation lock out tag out while minimizing interference to operations.
  • Adhere to support and enforce all O-I Safety procedures and policies.
  • Regularly use electrical testing instruments, hand tools, and machinery to install, repair, connect, disconnect, and/or replace electrical systems and supporting infrastructure.
  • Analyzes and interprets one lines, wiring diagrams, sketches and drawings to select a logical approach to troubleshooting, tracing, and testing circuits to determining replacement or repair needs of equipment.
  • Perform work requiring a thorough working knowledge of electrical principles wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation, and application of equipment.
  • Work with all types and sizes of motors, transformers, circuit breakers, electronic controls, control panels, starters, VFD’s, switches, lighting equipment, power distribution and control circuits, conduit and fittings, wire and cable, hardware, insulations, solder, repair and replacement parts, cables, insulators, conduit, etc.
  • Be willing and interested in learning additional skills beyond traditional electrical skills to become a cross-functional crafts-person.
  • Understand consequences of equipment failure and repair errors. Participate in continuous improvement processes.
  • Inspect and keep tools and work area in clean and orderly condition.
  • Modify, maintain and install PLC programs.
  • Identify PLC problems, troubleshoot PLCs and maintain PLC updated documentation and wiring changes
  • Must have a working knowledge of camera/vision systems, computers, hand and power tools, bench lathe, pipe threader, acetylene torch, etc.
  • Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles, wiring specifications, codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, report findings and take appropriate action.
  • Write and perform maintenance work orders as required.
  • Maintain performance history and maintenance records for electrical and electronic equipment.
  • Advise operators, mechanics, and other electrical maintenance personnel of standard operating procedures and requirements for electronic and electrical equipment and controls.

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Journeyman cardholder preferred

    OR4 years of relevant/related work experience and 576 hours of technical training (2 year degree).
  • High School Graduate or GED.
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule, with weekend and holiday availability.
