Responsible for identifying, developing and coordinating delivery of overall strategies to support the goals, philosophies, policies, initiatives and day-to-day activities of AEP Transmission and its affiliates, including joint ventures. To support transmission projects, works closely with leadership in Project Management, Line and Station Engineering, Right of Way, Corporate Communications, and External Affairs to identify best practices and opportunities related to siting transmission projects. Strategic outreach, marketing and customer service roles require collaboration with business unit leaders; partner with groups including Business Development, Transource, Forestry, and Safety and Health, for example. Interfaces with or supports interaction with internal groups and external audiences including individual customers and local officials.Job DescriptionESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Responsible for identifying and developing outreach strategies, tools and approaches to deal with affected or potentially affected landowners to gain beneficial project routing information and resolve issues before and during the transmission line routing process.

Represents AEP Transmission and projects to external affairs teams, educates the public (landowners, thought leaders, elected officials) about proposed transmission projects. Directs external contractors in support of department needs. Provides leadership and guidance to internal team to provide consistent level of outreach efforts across projects in all regions.

Manage project outreach specialists systemwide. (Responsible for developing outreach tools to support AEP Transmission projects largely within the AEP footprint).

Oversee and develop strategic outreach specialist(s). (Responsible for ensuring consistent outreach and marketing for transmission external facing outreach tools-AEP Transmission websites, annual reports, business development initiatives (Grid Assurance, and other joint ventures), BOLD and other business development initiatives, including Transource projects both in- and off-system.

Directs and approves customer outreach strategies that improve two-way communications and line routing success at the project level. Manager the customer service function and employee(s). (Responsible for developing tools to track customer service performance and issues, identify trends, develop processes, develop and implement improvement tools to improve interactions with customers. Will work closely with emerging AEP customer services team.)

Develop outreach and marketing strategy that promotes AEP Transmission and AEP Transmission initiatives.

Works closely with Project Management, Line and Station Engineering, Right of Way, Corporate Communications, and External Affairs to foster two-way communications between key stakeholders and the project team to improve success in siting transmission projects. Coordinate deployment of resources accordingly.

Work closely with internal partners and consultants to develop outreach tools that reach to key audiences.

Foster AEP's values and culture as part of regular interactions with various stakeholders.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:Education requirements are listed below:Bachelor's degree in journalism, business, marketing, customer service, advertising, communications, public relations, public affairs, or related field.Work Experience requirement listed below:Six years' experience in Utilities, Corporate Communications, Customer Service, Marketing, Media Relations, Journalism, or related fieldOTHER REQUIREMENTS:Physical demand level is Sedentary, and requirements details are listed belowThese are additional expectations for the job and could include specific work experience, license / certifications, preemployment testing, expectations about travel, shift work, etc.

The ability to handle multiple projects and assignments is critical.

May require extended hours to accomplish assigned tasks to meet requirements and schedules.

Some overnight travel to facilities and projects (field work) is required periodically.

20 to 30 % of travel time associated with this position.

Excellent written and public speaking skills, excellent interpersonal skills and strong business knowledge, able to meet with affected or potentially affected customers to surface issues and solve problems and bring local knowledge and insight to the siting process
