Operate CNC utilizing G code or conversational with a high degree of efficiency
Machines include manual milling, drilling, lathes, and surface grinding
Reviews drawings, instructions, blueprints or samples to ensure accurate production
Develop complex jobs with minimal supervision
Selects appropriate machines and settings for a given task
Plan proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment
Have a thorough knowledge of the functions and workability of tool steels
Understand typical heat treat for specific materials
Maintains inventory of raw material to support tooling details
Maintains inventory of completed products
Coordinate with Department lead on priorities
Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs
Train inexperienced apprentices on operation of CNC machines
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed
Maintains a safe and clean workstation
Specialist Qualifications/Skills:
Excellent coordination and mechanical skills
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in math
Basic computer skills
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive tasks
Good communication with the ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with engineers, tool makers, and other staff
Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements :
High school degree or equivalent
Experience working with machine tools or mechanical assembly
Working knowledge of safety protocols
Apprenticeship or vocational training preferred
Auto-Cad, Solid Works, or other 2-D and 3-D software is a plus
