Job Summary:

The CNC Lathe Operator sets up and operates CNC lathe machines to produce high-quality precision parts according to specifications and drawings. This role involves interpreting technical drawings, monitoring machine performance, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Machine Setup: Configure and set up CNC lathe machines, including loading tools, fixtures, and workpieces.

Programming: Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings to create or modify CNC programs. Use software as necessary to input and adjust machine parameters.

Operation: Operate CNC lathe machines to produce components according to specifications, ensuring efficiency and precision throughout the process. Address any issues (quality, production, or other) in a timely manner.

Quality Control: Monitor the machining process, and perform inspections using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to ensure parts meet specifications.

Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance on machines, troubleshoot issues, and make adjustments to maintain optimal machine performance and quality output.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of production, including time sheets, machine performance, and inspection results.

Safety Compliance: Follow all workplace safety protocols and ensure that the work area is clean and organized.

Training and Support: Assist in training less experienced operators or new hires on best practices related to machine operation.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in CNC machining is a plus.

Proven experience as a CNC Lathe Operator or similar role.

Proficiency in programming CNC machines (G-code and M-code familiarity).

Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Experience with precision measuring instruments.

Knowledge of materials, tooling, and production processes.

Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Working Conditions:

May require working in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise and machinery.

Shift work may be required, including overtime as needed.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods.

Capability to lift and maneuver heavy materials and parts.

Dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precise machine operation.
