Position Overview:

The Day Programming & Direct Care Specialist is responsible for recruiting & coordinating volunteers for day program workshops, recruiting participants and sharing information for day programming workshops, offering direct support in various workshops, and providing direct care support to individuals with IDD. These roles aim to promote personal development, community inclusion, and overall well-being for individuals with IDD.

Responsibilities:

Day Programming:

- Assist in designing and offering engaging workshops focusing on mental and physical wellness, safe and healthy engagement, relationships, community inclusion, recreation, and fun.

- Tailor programs to meet the diverse needs and abilities of individuals with IDD.

- Ensure all activities promote skill-building, independence, and social engagement.

- Recruit participants and share information for day programming workshops

Volunteer Coordination:

- Recruit, interview, and onboard volunteers to support day programming activities.

- Provide ongoing training, support, and supervision to volunteers.

- Coordinate volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage for all activities and events.

- Recognize and celebrate the contributions of volunteers.

Direct Care Support:

- Provide direct care and support to individuals with IDD, including assistance with daily living activities, personal care, and mobility.

- Support clients in skill-building activities to promote independence and personal development.

- Provide transportation for clients to community outings, events, and appointments, ensuring their safety and well-being.

- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of daily activities, care provided, and any incidents or observations.

Direct Support in Workshops:

- Lead and facilitate day programming workshops, ensuring active participation and safety of all participants.

- Provide one-on-one and group support to individuals during activities.

- Collaborate with other staff to create a supportive and inclusive environment.

Administration:

- Maintain accurate records of volunteer activities, program participation, and individual progress.

- Prepare reports on program outcomes and volunteer contributions.

- Assist in the development of program materials and resources.

Requirements:

- Associate degree in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Education, Therapeutic Recreation) or 3 years of equivalent experience.

- Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.

- Strong organizational and communication skills.

- Ability to recruit, train, and manage volunteers.

- Creative and enthusiastic approach to program development.

- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

- Ability to pass a background check.

- Valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and current insurance.

Work Schedule:

- Full-time position

- Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Compensation:

$18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Performance Bonus: Eligibility for a bonus based on day program enrollment & participation.
