Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable, friendly, and experienced Cashier to join our team in the Roseway neighborhood of NE Portland. We need someone who is accurate at transactions, proactive in keeping the store stocked and tidy, and skilled at communicating and reporting business needs.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
Customer Engagement: Warmly greet every customer as they enter the checkout area and ensure a friendly, efficient checkout experience.
Cash Handling & POS Operation: Accurately process all sales using the cash register/POS system, handle cash and electronic payments, and manage a balanced cash drawer.
Communication & Reporting: Clearly and promptly communicate and report any operational issues, inventory shortages, equipment malfunctions, or maintenance needs to management.
Inventory & Store Maintenance: Actively monitor and restock shelves and coolers throughout the shift to ensure full inventory and maintain a clean, tidy, and organized market environment.
Attention to Detail: Ensure all items are scanned, provide correct change, and adhere to age-restriction laws (e.g., tobacco/lottery sales).
Requirements
Proven experience as a Cashier in a retail or convenience store setting (Required).
Strong math skills and high level of accuracy.
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and a positive attitude.
Ability to speak Spanish is helpful for serving our diverse customer base.
Must be punctual and reliable, with flexible availability (including evenings and weekends).
