Our owner operated Postal Annex on SE Hawthorne is looking for a new member join our team. We are a small business in need of a retail clerk for full/part time employment.
Position Details:
-Compensation: Starts at $18 .00 per hour – increases may apply due to experience
-Store hours: Mon-Fri 9am-7pm Sat 9am-5pm Sun 12-5pm
-Store location: 35th & SE Hawthorne Blvd.
-Fixed schedule from week to week. Currently we need someone for a full time position including Saturdays.
Position Duties & Responsibilities:
-Customer service for retail store where shipping and packaging is the primary function.
-Finding the most appropriate way to pack and ship items large and small.
-Helping customers find the most affordable, safest and quickest way to pack and ship their items.
-Other duties include: Printing, copying, scanning, faxing, notarizing and taking/processing passport photos.
The requirements of a qualified applicant:
-Be personable, friendly, outgoing, attentive, responsible, energetic, confident, self-motivated and communicative.
-Enjoy working with customers and is driven to offer a great experience and to build customer loyalty.
-Enjoys working in a team environment where communication is KEY.
-Be very good at multi-tasking, comfortable in a fast-paced environment and excellent attention to detail/able to prioritize effectively, quickly and under pressure.
-Have the ability to retain detailed information.
-Have customer service and retail experience.
-Have extensive experience working with computers and software.
-Able to manage large packages and ok working with box knives.

I’ve lived in Portland my whole life. I am open minded, and I fall in the liberal category both politically and socially. I have been a small business owner for 30 years and one of my proudest accomplishments has been my ability to retain happy and satisfied employees over long periods of time. I pride myself in fostering a team environment through respect, communication, compassion, consideration, involvement, kindness and loyalty. I believe communication is key to keeping the work environment friendly and fun as well as casual yet professional. Although my store is a franchised business, I do my best to alleviate any feelings of being “corporate” or “sterile” to the staff or our customers. One of my top priorities is to build strong relationships in the community through my business. In order to build those relationships, I believe it’s important to have a team who enjoys coming to work as much as one can.
