Hummingbird Scientific has been pushing the boundaries of in-situ microscopy for nearly 20 years with many of its products being the first of their kind. We are currently seeking a new Principal Investigator/Project Manager to further our research and development of new in-situ microscopy products. This position is a critical role to our leadership team and requires a passion for discovering new projects and ideas while working with us in an entrepreneurial mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Initiating new in-situ microscopy product development
2. Securing (grant) funding to enable the development of the technology
3. Being responsible for a complex portfolio of projects
4. Hands-on technical product development work
Key Qualifications:
Widespread experience in outlining, writing, submitting, and managing research projects from beginning to completion
Have writing skills that are not only technically proficient but also able to keep the big picture in mind when writing proposals
Experience executing grant applications from start to finish
Experience in managing a multi-project portfolio
Ability to write proposals, professionally visualize, and present technical and scientific content.
Expert-level experience in TEM, SEM, or X-ray synchrotron experiments
Education and Experience:
Ph. D. in Science or Engineering
Optional Qualifications:
Prior experience as a Principal Investigator
Experience with in-situ microscopy experiments
Experience working in a small business setting
Compensation: Hummingbird Scientific will determine annual salary based on experience and demonstrated capabilities, with a minimum of 110K. Benefits include paid vacation, holidays, sick time, medical, vision, and dental benefits with company-sponsored HSA, a company 401(k) plan, and a seasonal CSA box.
