Fabrication Shop Foreman
Position Title: Fabrication Shop Foreman
Department: Manufacturing / Fabrication
Reports to: Fabrication Manager / Production Manager
Typical work hours: 5:00AM to 2:30PM
Wages: 40 to $45 Hr DOE
Job Summary
The Fabrication Foreman overseas daily fabrication operations, supervising shop personnel to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. This role coordinates workflow, enforces safety procedures, reads and interprets drawings, and ensures production schedules are met.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and lead fabrication shop employees, including welders, fitters, and helpers
Assign daily tasks and monitor progress to meet production schedules
Read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Ensure quality standards and dimensional accuracy are met
Coordinate material usage, tooling, and equipment availability
Inspect completed work and approval for next production stage
Troubleshoot fabrication issues and recommend corrective actions
Train, mentor, and evaluate fabrication staff
Communicate with engineering, project management, and quality control teams
Maintain accurate production and labor records
Promote housekeeping and 5S practices in the shop
Required Qualifications
Have and maintain a Valid Drivers License
High school diploma or G.E.D. (technical training preferred)
5+ years of experience in metal fabrication or welding
2+ years of supervisory experience
Strong knowledge of welding processes (FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, SMAW)
Ability to read blueprints and shop drawings
Familiarity with fabrication equipment and tools
Experience with structural steel, pipe or industrial fabrication
Computer skills for reporting and scheduling
Preferred Qualifications
AWS/WABO certifications
Understanding of AWS codes
OSHA safety training or certification
Rigger and overhead crane operator
Forklift operation
Millwright experience
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a shop environment with noise, heat, and sparks
Work Environment
Fabrication shop and manufacturing floor
May require overtime and weekend work based on production schedule
