Where you will work: This position will be based out of Astound's Bethlehem, PA office.

A Day in the Life of the Broadband Network Technician I:

Perform basic alignment of forward and return paths, including AC/DC voltage, RF levels, cable modems. and RSUs.

Perform power supply maintenance responsibilities and repair network power supplies. Check voltage levels,reset circuit breakers, replace batteries, etc.

Complete and submit required documentation including OSP trouble reports'

and outage reports to appropriate person(s) in a timely manner.

Follow required procedures for establishing and maintaining a safe work zone.

Troubleshoot RF unresolved issues forwarded to work group.

Ability to troubleshoot and repair a node.

Ability to splice coax cable.

Ability to identify and repair external network craft deficiencies.

Work with TRG, Dispatch, and CST Team to detect and resolve plant signal impairments and outages.

Demonstrated ability to calculate both cable and passive losses.

Demonstrated ability to calculate correct EQ and RF pad.

Read and interpret node prints.

Follow established engineering and technical processes and procedures.

Maintain regular communication throughout shift with other departments as required.

Provide technical support to other departments as required, including drop repair and plant construction.

Participate in on-call rotation schedule.

Demonstrated understanding of digital cable theory.

Demonstrated knowledge of upstream and downstream RF carrier loading.

Escalate RF unresolved issues to work group.

Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate work groups as needed.

Follow up on and close escalated external network issues.

Participate in advanced site surveys as required.

Perform other duties as required and assigned.

Ability to verbally differentiate between QPSK and QAM modulation.

Provide technical support to other departments, headend and hub.

Ability to conduct an advanced site survey including documentation.

Ability to determine necessary materials.

Ability to use a TDR.

Ability to use a Locator

General understanding of OSP construction.

Knows proper injection points and levels for return card balance

Experience: 2+ years as a telecom technician

Competencies: Maintain satisfactory driving record and have a valid driver's license; Customer Service, Communication (verbal, written), Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working alone; Ability to read and interpret maps; Bucket Certified; Ohm's; Understand the Outside Plant

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ladder; Hand or Power Tools; Customer Service; Communication (verbal, written); Basic Computer Skills; Aptitude to learn to skills; Problem solving; Time Management; Teamwork; Working alone

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs

Standing and walking for extended periods of time

Education and Certifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent
