THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is currently in search of an Assistant Bridge Maintenance Coordinator to join their team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth maintenance operations of the District's bridges and structures, ultimately contributing to extending their useful service life. Your responsibilities will include providing supervisory support and assisting in the planning process for the District Bridge Maintenance Coordinator (BMC). DESCRIPTION OF WORKThe main focus of this position is to assist in maintaining records, coordinating maintenance tasks, managing assignments, and supervising repairs done by the bridge maintenance crews for all structures in the district. Employees have the authority to determine the best work methods and procedures, following instructions given verbally or in writing, sometimes with sketches or diagrams. Work is evaluated by superiors through inspections and discussions to ensure quality and compliance with standards.In terms of supervisory and management responsibilities, this role involves guiding design squads and the Bridge Management Unit in preparing contracts for maintenance work, including overseeing the annual Bridge Washing Contract. Additionally, the position includes field supervision for assigned region crews to provide technical support during operations and guidance for assigned region foremen on repairs, modifications, and summer maintenance tasks. It is essential to ensure that department policies, working rules, and guidelines are consistently followed by all subordinate personnel under this position's supervision.Interested in learning more? Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after successful completion of probationary period, at the discretion of the supervisor. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Bridgeville, Pennsylvania.

Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Three years as a Highway Foreman 2; or

Five years of technical experience in highway maintenance or highway construction; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
