The primary responsibility of this position is to provide emergency services for children and youth after hours and on weekends. This includes services mandated by both the Child Protective Services Act (covering physical, imminent risk, student abuse, mental and sexual abuse, and serious physical neglect) and the Juvenile Act (covering children who are "without proper parental care or control" or youth who are "ungovernable and found to be in need of care, treatment or supervision.") Service is provided to new referrals and to families already active with the agency.Over a six-week period, this position is responsible for an additional 36 hours of contact hours during regular agency working hours to relay information to daytime staff, prepare materials and testify in court as needed, receive regular supervision, and participate in unit meetings and training sessions. Until the completion of required direct service worker certification training, this position reports to the office Monday-Friday 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM to shadow a screening and intake caseworker.Work Schedule and Additional Information:Full-time employment.
Work hours are on-call shift work on a rotating schedule. Shifts are either:
Monday - Thursday, 4:30 PM to 8:30 AM
Friday - Monday; Friday 4:30 PM to Monday 8:30 AM
Until certification training is completed: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM
This position may require working beyond the regular workday to meet the needs of family members.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
Other Requirements:
PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
You must pass a background investigation.
This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
