Supports the company's Contract Binding Division by underwriting renewal business. Through direct interaction with our General Agency base, administers and monitors underwriting guidelines in accordance with a stated letter of authority. Reviews agency book of business for pricing, policy retention as well as profit/growth results and trends. Provides superior service and guidance to General Agents. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

Effectively gather, analyze and evaluate Renewal risk exposures using available resources (e.g. application, survey reports, loss history, industry publication such as SAGE, data Cube, IRMI, Crime/Wildfire scores and A.M. Best) providing appropriate risk documentation.

Apply knowledge and understanding of coverage forms, rating plans and guidelines in the selection and pricing of individual risks. Ensure adequate pricing of individual risks through proper classification, accuracy of information and adherence to company underwriting standards and philosophy.

Work within specific authority level to review, modify and approve Renewal risks within territorial assignment in accordance with accepted underwriting guidelines. Work in unison with managing General Agents and other departments to retain a profitable book of business.

With a high degree of professionalism, provide guidance to General Agents and other departments regarding various underwriting information. Effectively communicate underwriting decisions and appetite to agents within assigned territory. Reinforce the ease of doing business with MUSIC by meeting or exceeding agent expectations and service quality on a consistent basis.

Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Communicate openly and in a timely fashion. Participate in the development of team goals and work diligently to achieve them. Support all team decisions.

Conduct continuous profit and growth analysis by territory and agency as assigned. Monitor premium retention with the use of electronic reporting tools. Provide internal reports for management staff as required.

Must be able to drive an automobile to occasionally travel within territory. Car travel represents approximately 10% of empl yee's time.

Provides technical advice to lower-level associates and other functional areas.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Demonstrate proficiency in usage of all supplied desktop tools, including the automated underwriting and email systems.

Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers/peers.

Demonstrated ability to adapt to change as the company moves forward in its strategic vision.

Must have valid state-issued driver's license in good standing and be able to drive an automobile.College degree preferred.Must have 3-5 years of underwriting experience.

The expected starting salary range for this role is$54,000 - $85,000. The actual base salary is based on geographic location, and the range is representative of salaries for this role throughout Selective's footprint. Additional considerations include relevant education, qualifications, experience, skills, performance, and business needs.
