UPMC Hamot is hiring a Professional Staff Nurse to join our Labor & Delivery team in the Women's Hospital!This position is full-time, rotating day/night shifts. Overview: The Professional Staff Nurse, a Registered Nurse, sets care standards and ensures high-quality nursing care. They manage patient care for groups of patients and their families, using independent judgment and collaboration with the healthcare team. Their role includes leadership, partnership, and supervision, maintaining collaborative relationships to achieve desired patient outcomes. They are committed to the community and the nursing profession.Title and Salary will be determined based upon education and experience.Responsibilities:

Quality Improvement: Actively participates in quality improvement efforts, identifies opportunities, and uses research to support clinical care improvements.

Patient Care: Applies the nursing process to create a healing environment, formulates daily goals and plans of care, and demonstrates critical thinking in patient care.

Communication: Practices solid communication skills, documents comprehensively, and builds healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues.

Professional Relationships: Develops productive working relationships, understands cultural differences, and maintains a balance between work and personal life.

Professional Development: Demonstrates accountability for professional growth, participates in shared governance, and adapts to change.

Teaching: Applies adult learning principles in teaching patients, families, students, and new staff, and supports their development."

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Registered Nurse (RN) Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.

Act 33 with renewal

Act 34

Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

ACLS within one year of hire or transfer.

NIH Stroke within 6 months of hire or transfer.

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
