Job Description SummaryThe Lead Marine Applications Engineer is responsible for all technical activities associated with tendering during the bid phase. You will work with the Sales and Commercial Operations (ComOps) team to create technically compliant proposals for identified opportunities.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
Perform technical analysis of request for information (RFI) or request for quote (RFQ)
Develop the technical solution with focus on technical compliance, value proposition, and customer needs.
Define, select and optimize the products and systems proposal
Provide detailed equipment scope description for all proposed scope (Scope of supply documents, equipment datasheets, etc.)
Provide system level description and documents (Single Line Diagrams, desc. of operation, functional spec., etc)
Identify/ document technical risk and mitigation strategy
Gain approval of Technical Risk Assessment (TRA)/ Technical Sign Off (TSO)
Ensure completion of Transactional Compliance Plan (TCP)
Develop technical compliance matrix
Provide equipment and engineering schedule and cost, with focus on internal policies and procedures, as well as customer schedule requirements
Produce equipment engineering specification sheets (ESS) for relevant scope
Engage in technical negotiations and cost validation (liaise with engineering & sourcing)
Develop costing/ pricing for opportunity (PCT) and update with costs as the solution evolves
Provide technical expertise for discussions with potential customers
Lead the technical handover for projects that are won
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 5 years of relevant experience).
Desired Characteristics
This role requires advanced experience in the Engineering/Technology & Customer Application Engineering.
Experience with GE Power Conversion Marine Products and Systems- Automation, Dynamic Positioning, Power Systems, Propulsion Systems
Familiarity with Industry Technical Standards, Marine Classification Societies, Regulatory Bodies requirements
In-depth understanding of GE ITO-OTR processes
Possesses a deep understanding of marine markets and perceived customer value that aid in developing winning bid strategies.
Awareness of competitors offerings (specifically strengths and weaknesses)
Prior Technical Sales or Application Engineering experience
Possesses established relationships with suppliers and industry contacts
Strong oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs.
Established project management skills.
