Principal EngineerThis position reports into Sr Manager, Engineering and Automation, and is based at Fort Washington, PA.Role reports to: Sr Manager, Engineering and AutomationLocation: Fort Washington, PATravel %: 10%Pay: $124,000 - $167,000What You Will Do

The Principal Engineer is responsible for Equipment ownership, as the subject matter expert, will manage capital projects from project conception to handover and closure, will manage contractor and work with engineering firms. This position will provide technical leadership and engineering support to the manufacturing plant. The position will be responsible for managing and delivering engineering projects from concept to post implementation including developing project scope, user requirements, appropriation requests, timelines and budgets, qualification plans, approving equipment specifications and documentation to meet current company, corporate and government requirements. Managing the purchase, installation and start-up of equipment and system including adherence to compliance, cost, and time schedule requirements. Recognized leader and authority in organization in area of expertise. Will provide base business support as the subject matter expert for equipment and systems under responsibility.Key Responsibilities

Manages all tasks based on the responsibilities for project phases (Concept, Planning, Design, Implementation and Post-Implementation). This person will also manage the project implementation team including external consultants and contractors. Accountable for achievement of project milestones.

Provide technical support for engineering projects including equipment design and development, capital project execution, manufacturing technical support, new product introduction and process improvement initiatives with responsibility for assisting with project execution and site stakeholder alignment.

Conceives, plans, and implements solutions of considerable novelty and importance as well as develops and evaluates plans for solving a variety of unique and complex engineering problems that require the regular use of innovation.

Contributes new designs or techniques, which support and further the company's strategic business objectives.

Assess project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality and client satisfaction, goals, and objectives.

Prepares or approves technical memos, reports, analyzes and summarizes data, and recommends conclusions based on engineering/technical rationale. Reviews and approves reports and confirms conclusions are based on engineering/technical rationale.

Responsible for the technical support and expertise for manufacturing trouble shooting and quality investigations. Participates in development of short- and long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.

Leads a technical team or primary technical lead on cross functional teams. Determines project strategy to effectively manage specific project prioritization according to available resources and project criticality.

Reviews and approves Commissioning and Qualification documentation such as plans, protocols, and reports as required.

Develops, delivers, and maintains engineering project schedules, resources, and budgets for assigned projects to meet project objectives on time and within budget.

Prepares and leads review of project proposals, charters, project updates for assigned projects for management.

Independently manages projects from concept to post implementation for complex projects. Demonstrates creativity, foresight, and uses mature engineering judgment while anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems and creates opportunities.

Provides technical direction to external resources (e.g., designers, suppliers, contractors, consultants).

Serve as technical subject matter expert reg rding changes/improvements/CIPs and sustainability.

Develops technical engineering strategies in support of companywide business plan.

Monitors industry trends, benchmarks, and leverages engineering expertise across the company.

Provides overall project leadership and mentorship to peers. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower-level engineers or project teams. Consulted extensively by colleagues and other and high degree of reliance is placed on engineering technical advice.

Works under limited supervision and may direct the work activities of others.What We Are Looking For

Required Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent) in Engineering required. Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or any other engineering discipline is required. Advanced degree preferred.Experience:

8 years of experience with a pharmaceutical or consumer products company is preferred.

Relevant experience engineering, technical, and/or operations experience is required.

Knowledge of cGMPs and Good Documentation Practices is required.

Experience working in FDA/cGMP compliance environment preferred.Desired Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to interpret and apply current Good Manufacturing Practices .

Mathematics skills and analytical ability.

Knowledge in client /server architecture and connectivity concepts.

Knowledge in computer system validation.

Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Office software - Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

Must be able to make decisions based on available facts while meeting established deadlines and priorities.

Demonstrated leadership.

Well versed in the latest quality assurance techniques. A

ble to work with minimum supervision and under pressure.

Takes initiative and makes good judgment in the performance of duties.

Ability to communicate effectively with personnel.Certifications/Licenses: Six Sigma Green Belt/Black certification preferred. Project Management preferred.Leadership: Incumbent should demonstrate solid competencies on the values and behaviors to effectively contribute to the transformation of the scope of work.Other Requirements : Able to work extra hours and to respond to emergency calls that require returning to the company after regular working hours of the business. Able to support other departments and/or projects according to business needs.What's In It For You

Annual base salary for new hires in this position ranges from $124,000 - $167,000 . This takes into account a number of factors including work location, the candidate's skills, experience, education level & other job-related factors.
