Career Path Description: Provides a full range of legal advice and services.

Responsibilities are within the Legal Function as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines.

Education required: Law Degree (e.g., in the U.S., the Juris Doctor degree). Depending on location, may be required to qualify for a license to practice law (in the U.S., must be admitted to the bar).

Experience Required: 5 to 6 years preferably involving the financial services industry and/or regulatory and competition policy.

Certifications: Familiarity with the financial services sector. Good understanding of the products and services supported.

Core Skills & Requirement: Functional knowledge: Requires conceptual and practical expertise in own discipline. Understands how related disciplines impact own work/own team. Readily applies functional knowledge to challenges in our industry/markets.

Business expertise: Has good or in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others and chooses to work across these boundaries to further the greater agenda. Technical Skills & Requirements:

Business Partnering (for OGC): Demonstrates a thorough understanding of the processes, objectives, and challenges within assigned customer accounts and evaluates legal solutions from the business? perspective. Utilizes thorough understanding of the customer?s processes and activities to match legal solutions to the customer?s unique business needs. Considers rules, regulations, and time frames of core business, as well as impact on end users when implementing new practices, products or solutions.

Knowledge of Legal and Regulatory Requirements: Assists others in keeping current on laws, controls and regulatory requirements framework and structure. Researches and evaluates programs and processes to remain current on industry trends. Leverages knowledge of internal and external market control environments to determine internal controls necessary to properly mitigate standard legal and regulatory risks.

Regulatory Affairs Compliance and Requirements: Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards.

Technical Communication/Presentation: Breaks down complex information (e.g., legal, operational risk, and regulatory data) into understandable terminology and actionable concepts. Creates clear, concise and organized communication materials (e.g., policies & procedures, guidelines, presentations, messages). Considers and understands the audience?s specific needs and comprehension level to determine the most appropriate message and delivery method, limiting or explaining technical language.

Negotiation and Influence: Identifies the needs of parties before negotiations and prepares plans and tactics to influence thought and behavior. 1. Provides guidance to internal company clients with respect to applicable legal requirements and company policies that are overseen by the legal group.

2. Represents (without close supervision from senior lawyers) the company's positions in regulatory and commercial matters.

3. Has the expertise to provide internal clients (without close supervision) legal advice in assigned areas.

4. Evaluates, responds to and independently handles certain investigations and litigation matters.

5. Drafts and reviews contracts.

6. Drafts proposed board resolutions.

7. Evaluates cross-border legal matters.
