Responsibilities

The Charge Nurse is responsible and accountable, on a per shift basis, for assisting the Nurse Manager in the management of the daily operations of their assigned unit. This may include counseling, directing, and evaluating nursing staff in provision of safe, appropriate, quality nursing care and services. The Charge Nurse is responsible for facilitating and coordinating patient care delivery and flow through the continuum of care. The Charge Nurse serves as a resource to unit staff, and aides in the interpretation of the unit specific patient care standards and performance expectations. The Charge Nurse performs these duties under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and Nursing Directors.

Qualifications

Full Time, 36 Hours Per Week - Day Shift

Qualifications:

Education: Nursing graduate from an approved school for registered nurses.

Experience:
  1. Ability to appropriately and effectively initiate and implement all phases of nursing process.
  2. Demonstrates current knowledge of nursing practice in areas of clinical responsibility.
  3. Ability to work and effectively communicate with peers, managers, and subordinates and other health care members in the provision of patient care.
  4. Demonstrates above average leadership skills. Minimum of two years experience in specialty.

Licensure/Certification/Registration Requirements:

  1. Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Maintains current licensure
  2. CPR certified.
  3. Certification in clinical practice area preferred.
  4. Membership in Professional Organization encouraged.
