Under administrative supervision, the IT Security Analyst is responsible for assuring technical compliance with PCI. He or she will use network and security analysis tools to identify vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation, as well as responding to actual security violations. He or she will respond to security breaches by identifying the source and implementing measures to prevent its recurrence including educating faculty, staff, and students on appropriate security measures. This person will use and be capable of developing tools to respond to Drexel's unique needs to automate and improve the security and performance of the Drexel network.

Essential Functions

Respond to security incidents of all types including RIAA, copyright, network abuse, system cracking, compromised machines.

Configure and troubleshoot network access for PCI devices.

Assess PCI compliance and respond to self-assessment.

Develop scripts for automating security tools.

Lead new security projects.

Establish standards and evaluate security of application software.

Document and communicate changes, problems and solutions to other technical staff as well as end-users.

Coordinate all aspects of vulnerability assessment and remediation program.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field or

2 years of experience in scripting (PERL and/or Powershell preferable).

1-3 years of experience in securing networks and hosts.

At least 2 years of experience with the Ethernet, TCP/IP, Linux,/UNIX, and Windows.

Expert command of standard network monitoring and security tools and utilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of PCI standards, HIPAA, GLBA or other regulatory requirements is highly desirable.

Experience with Nessus, Snort, Bro, Argus, Metasploit or similar security tools is highly desirable.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade L. Compensation for this grade ranges from $62630 to $93950 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
