Regular Full-TimeOverviewPlans and manages central supply functions to ensure efficient operations in processing, sterilization, and distribution of medical supplies. Coordinates activities of employees engaged in furnishing sterile and non-sterile supplies and equipment for use in care and treatment of patients in a medical facility. Oversees activities of workers engaged in cleaning, assembling, and packing of linens, gowns, dressings, gloves, treatment trays, instruments, and related items.ResponsibilitiesProvides management oversight for the preparation of solutions, arrangement of stock, and requisitioning, issuing, controlling, and charging of supplies and equipment

Instructs personnel on the use of sterilizing equipment and water distillation apparatus, setting up standardized treatment trays, and maintenance of equipment in the central supply area

Establishes standards of work performance and methods of operation for department

Monitors work activities to ensure that employees are following prescribed procedures to meet organizational standards

Ensures that aseptic techniques are employed by employees in preparing and handling sterile items. Inspects daily inventory, maintains records of supply usage, and compiles periodic reports; May be responsible for developing work schedules

May be responsible for supervising departmental operations on a 24-hour basisQualificationsBachelor's degree in environmental science or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

5 years experience in hospital materials distribution, logistics or inventory management required

Working knowledge of Lawson (or similar supply chain management systems) required

Change agent demeanor

Must be a "critical thinker" with an ability to quickly adapt to a changing environment

Displays sense of urgency and understands who the "customers" are

Strong product knowledge a must

Excellent interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills are required for success in this function

Demonstrated good ability to prioritize work, strong organizational skills and initiative to improve processes

Consistently display a friendly, positive, and professional demeanor

Must be able to pass a criminal background check, FBI fingerprint check, Child Abuse clearance, drug test, and comply with the immunization requirements

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift 40 lbs

Ability to pull carts weighing up to 250lbs

Walking, standing for extended periods of time

Mental qualifications include ability to understand and oversee the sterilization and distribution of all surgical supplies
