DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Summary: In this technical position, the Senior Solutions Engineer is responsible for supporting business development and technical project activities in the integration of geospatial solutions for our clients. Specifically, the Solutions Engineer will collaborate with other business development team members performing client technical briefings, presentations, analyses, and other forms of communication with clients; support project managers in client success; working with the practice on project growth; and provide day to day technical problem solving with both clients and internal program staff with geospatial solutions. The role will enhance our team's ability to deliver top notch customer support as well as to maintain and evolve an in-depth understanding of technical innovations and potential solutions in the GIS industry that we can bring as trusted consultants to our clients.Essential Duties: Technical Advisement and Project Delivery
Provide technical guidance to less experienced personnel on specific tasks
Serve as a client advocate, educator, and technical expert by developing relationships with the goal of executing services.
Effectively communicate with clients regarding data needs, priorities, geospatial/GIS service offerings, and on support matters.
If direct reports, manage staff utilization by scheduling, monitoring, and revising assignments
Satisfy project requirements by ensuring that quality standards and deadlines are met
Stay knowledgeable of trends and current developments within the Esri environment and other geospatial technical areas
Provide guidance by mentoring and motivating staff on issues such as performance feedback and client relations
Address customer issues and concerns in a timely fashion to ensure customer success.
Diagnose, research, escalate and/or resolve complex technical questions.
May perform technical analyses, calculations, and tasks as needed

Prepare scope of work and cost estimates for proposals
Meet with target clients to discuss geospatial task orders and strategy to expand new work added with existing and new clients
Participate in internal and external professional development activities
Provide technical methodology input on proposals
Identify potential business development opportunities that are professionally challenging
Bring recognition to the Michael Baker brand on a local, regional, and statewide basisRequired Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in technical field or related field required
15 years related experience
Minimum of 10 years in the design or implementation of GIS technologies.
Experience with configuring and deploying Esri Experience Builder
Experience with implementing and managing ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online
Experience with cloud technologies - AWS and Azure
Experience with relational database management systems (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and management of geospatial data in database systems
Strong analytical abilities, solid analytical and trouble-shooting skills with the ability to quickly identify and solve client issues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, GIS and data processing software especially the Esri suite of products.
Demonstrated experience in front-facing consulting with clients.
Demonstrated analytical abilities through analysis and presentation of complex data
Ability to translate technical issues to a nontechnical audience.
Ability to use critical thinking and logic to isolate and resolve technical issues in a timely manner.
Strong written, verbal, and organization skills.
Ability to manage change in a fluid environment.
Time management and prioritization skills.Desired Qualifications:
Experience with Utility Network and other E ri Advanced Solutions
Understanding of basic network topologies and high availability architectures
Understanding of development best practices and managing software development tasks
Experience with Python and developing scripts for analysis or automated workflows
GISP certification preferred, but not required

The Geospatial Practice is dispersed nationwide across many states. Some of our team members work near physical Michael Baker offices and have the option to work an in-office, hybrid, or WFH model. Some team members are fully remote. Practice individuals are allowed the flexibility of determining a work schedule that is amenable to the individual based on project work assigned, provided approval is given by their supervisor. The salary range for this position is $116,000 - $185,000.
